Parivar ("the app", "we", "us") is a society / residential-community
management app that helps residents, security guards, and the committee manage
visitors, complaints, community events, announcements, polls, and society
information. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, how it is
stored, and your choices. It applies to the Parivar mobile app on Android and iOS.
1. Information we collect
Mobile phone number — used to sign you in via a one-time
password (OTP). This is the primary identifier of your account.
Profile details — your name, apartment/flat and building
(wing/floor/unit), and role (resident, committee, or guard).
Registration selfie — a photo you take during sign-up so the
committee can verify your identity before granting access.
Photos you add — images attached to complaints and to
community events/functions.
Visitor and gate information — details you enter about your
expected guests, deliveries, or staff (name, purpose, timing), and gate-entry
records created when a guard checks a visitor in.
Community activity — complaints you raise, event/dinner
bookings, poll votes, and announcements you post or comment on.
Device permissions — camera (to scan visitor QR gate passes
and take your selfie) and photo library (to attach images). You can decline
these; related features simply won't be available.
Stored only on your device: The My Docs vault (your
personal documents and their images) is stored locally on your phone
only. It is never uploaded to our servers or the cloud.
2. How we use your information
To authenticate you and keep you signed in.
To operate community features — visitor approvals, complaints, events,
announcements, polls, and the society directory.
To let the committee verify and approve new residents.
To send in-app notifications relevant to you (e.g. a guard notifying you that
your visitor has arrived).
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not
use it for advertising. Parivar contains no third-party advertising.
3. Where your data is stored & who processes it
Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore,
Firebase Storage, and Firebase Authentication), operated by Google LLC as our
data processor. Phone-number verification (OTP SMS) is delivered through Firebase
Authentication and its telephony providers. See
Firebase's privacy and security information.
4. Who can see your information
Within your society: your name, flat, and relevant activity are
visible to authorised people in your community — e.g. the committee/admins (for
approvals and management) and security guards (for visitor entries relating to
your flat).
Other residents: announcements and their comments, community
polls, and the society/committee directory are visible to residents of your
society.
We share data with Google Firebase only as needed to run the service, and when
required by law.
5. Data retention
We keep your account and community data while your account is active. Some records
(for example, resolved complaints or past event bookings) may be retained for the
society's operational history. You may request deletion of your account and
associated personal data (see “Your rights”).
6. Security
Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Access is protected by phone-based
authentication and role-based access rules. No method of transmission or storage
is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
7. Children
Parivar is intended for adult residents and community staff. It is not directed to
children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
8. Your rights & choices
Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data.
Withdraw camera/photo permissions at any time in your device settings.
Request that your account be removed.
To exercise any of these, contact us at the email below and we will respond within
a reasonable time.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by
updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
